AGCORegulatory authority

Digitain announced in April 2026 that it had secured authorization to operate in Ontario as a Gaming-Related Supplier - Manufacturer. The registration allows the company to provide approved proprietary gaming content and technology to businesses operating within Ontario's regulated framework.

Supplier approval is not an operator license

This distinction matters. A consumer-facing sportsbook or casino needs operator registration and the iGaming Ontario commercial framework to take bets. A supplier registration covers a different role: providing games, platforms, systems or other regulated gaming technology to operators.

Think of Ontario as a layered market: the player sees the operator brand, but the product can depend on multiple registered suppliers providing games, platform technology, payments, live dealer content, data or other systems.

Why suppliers are regulated

Game and platform suppliers can influence core parts of the gambling experience, including game outcome systems, account infrastructure and technical compliance. Regulating the B2B layer allows the AGCO to apply standards beyond the operator's marketing and customer-service surface.

What Digitain's approval covers

Digitain described its Ontario status as a Gaming-Related Supplier - Manufacturer authorization and said it could deliver proprietary gaming content in the province. Industry reporting also tied the approval to the company's broader iGaming and sports betting technology business.

What it does not mean

  • It does not mean Digitain itself automatically becomes a consumer sportsbook or casino in Ontario.
  • It does not allow an unregistered operator to use a supplier relationship as a shortcut into the market.
  • It does not replace an operator's own AGCO registration or iGaming Ontario agreement.

Why bettors should care

Most players will never choose a casino because of the legal entity supplying its back end. Still, supplier regulation is part of the reason a regulated market can impose technical and compliance requirements throughout the product chain rather than only at the brand level.
